As a digital artist and web designer, I get all kinds of desires for information other than for web design, so that a web designer I’m certainly not suppose to be able to do items outside of the web design area. I think there are a few misconceptions about what specifically a web designer does. In the following paragraphs I am going to nail down exactly what a website design company is and what they should be capable of do.
First I’ll feel of the differences between an internet designer and a web creator. A web designer is a person who creates the visual layout and layout of a website. A web developer is one who does the behind-the-scenes programming of your website. For example a web builder creates the code regarding database websites.
Web designer’s meaning:
They give business/organizations a web occurrence by building them a website. Web site designers are professionals who manage information, create page styles, while communicating the business’s information/opinions in a website.
Web designers make another medium for the enterprise to expand into. Developing a website enables the business to draw in new customers, showcase its services/products, and to do business across nations around the world (as opposed to one location).
What things do designer’s do?
That’s a excellent question. It is definitely challenging to nail down what every artist must do in order to call them selves a web designer. A good wordpress website designer should be able to do both the style and design and the development, unfortunately to suit your needs the consumer, it doesn’t always perform that way.
Your web designer has to be able to perform the following:
*Layout web pages using HTML, XHTML, XML, and other programming dialects
*Translate your ideas, needs and anticipations into a web page
*Design nav elements (such as direction-finding bars)
*Create graphics inside Photoshop or any other specialist imaging software
* Successfully participate in a web development crew
* Have an understanding on how to develop Flash (authoring software accustomed to create animation programs)
*Understand and implement web specifications
* Have an understanding of Search Engine Optimization
2. Have a basic understanding of typography, graphics and color principle
* Understand needs regarding users and of usability tests
* Have ability to examine a target market
* Realize cross browser problems as well as how to fix them
A great web designer has knowledge of coding languages like:
* Cold fusion
That might be difficult for a graphic artist to have all those different encoding languages under their belt. It is just like knowing English, French, China’s and German. Quite difficult to say the least. The more languages they are experts in the better – however, its the imagary that counts and the more influences artists and digitial designers have the better.
What do you think? Should an artist stick to art or are they expected to merge over into the fields of web development, app creation and other forms of online art? Let me know in the comments.
